Looking back on the Greater Lima Region’s biggest workforce celebration

A MAKERFEST 2017 RETROSPECTIVE


Once again in October, the Greater Lima Region showcased nearly 100 of its world-class employers to the region’s young talent and adult job seekers Thursday’s skilled trades competitions at Apollo Career Center led to Friday’s STEM competitions, breakout sessions, and Exhibit Hall Career Expo with 75 employers at the Lima Civic Center. Saturday added 30 additional employers and became the MakerFest Job Fair hosted by OhioMeansJobs-Allen County.


WHO JOINED THE CELEBRATION?


MORE THAN 2,200 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN MAKERFEST 2017
• 1,414 high school students students from 30 regional high schools and career tech schools
• 123 teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators
• 120 college students from 5 regional colleges and universities
• 360 sponsor representatives from more than 100 companies
• 200 local volunteers
The overarching mission of MakerFest is to connect local employers with local talent and to inspire local hiring. This year’s top recruiting employer was Frost Roofing of Wapakoneta, who made five new hires while exhibiting at MakerFest!
